The quartet-turned-duo of Hawthorne Headhunters came together in 2007 when rapper-producer Black Spade (aka Stoney Rock) ventured from St. Louis to Southern California in search of inspiration. While there, he formed the psych-soul outfit with producers Ced No (aka I, Ced), Proh Mic and singer Coultrain, whose sometimes-wobbly vocals are a great complement to their equally bouncy production style.
