Cults
From New York, South Africa
First Twin Cities show since since October 6, 2011 • First Mainroom show • Third Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar since April 8, 2011
From last.fm:
Cults is an indie pop duo based in New York City, consisting of Madeline Follin (vocals) Brian Oblivion (guitar and vocals) . The film-students-turned-musicians from San Diego create a nostalgic buzz with their 1960s-sounding tunes about love and loneliness. At the age of twelve, Madeline Follin was offered a record deal with Recess Records after hanging out in the studio with her stepfather, Paul Kostabi’s band Youth Gone Mad. However, her parents declined. Read more about Cults on Last.fm.
Spectrals
From Thornhill, United Kingdom
Only Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
One-man band Louis Jones, hailing from Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, recorded slightly skewed, reverb-heavy amalgamations of ‘60s doo wop, Brill Building pop, and bashful garage rock -- often with dazed surf guitar accents -- as Spectrals. The 7” single “Leave Me Be” was released in 2009 on Captured Tracks. Early the following year, he issued split singles with Fair Ohs (on Tough Love) and Mazes (on Love Is Disgusting), both of which featured two of his songs. Later in the year, Jones linked with Slumberland, who issued “7th Date,” a colored 7” single, that June. Read more about Spectrals on Last.fm.

Mrs. Magician
From San Diego, California
Only Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
Mrs. Magician hails from the pilings of various San Diego piers. Like those pilings, their sound is encrusted with salty hooks drenched in waves of reverb and barnacled, fuzz. These pop songs are massive and betray the beach shack bummer of the summer posture that these hoodad's exude. "Strange Heaven" is the band's debut album and magnifies the cacophonous lullabies of the their four previous singles. Read more about Mrs. Magician on Last.fm.
