DIIV (previously known as Dive - named after the Nirvana song) is the ongoing project of Zachary Cole Smith, who has already made a name for himself in the New York music scene playing for bands such as Beach Fossils, Darwin Deez and Soft Black. Smith formed DIIV in Brooklyn in 2011 as his solo project, but soon put together a live band with Devin Ruben Perez, his childhood friend Andrew Bailey, and ex-Smith Westerns drummer Colby Hewitt. The doomy shoegaze band No Joy began in November 2009, when guitarist/vocalist Jasamine White-Glutz was living in Los Angeles and guitarist/vocalist Laura Lloyd was living in Montreal. The pair wrote songs as long-distance collaborators until White-Glutz moved to Montreal and they could play shows together. One of their first gigs was with Best Coast; when that band’s Bethany Cosentino said that No Joy was “the best band ever” on her Twitter feed, buzz began forming around the band. Sunflower Bean is an indie rock/neo-psychedelic trio from New York City. It consists of female frontwoman Julia Cumming (formerly of the band Supercute!), Jacob Faher and Nick Kivlen. The band self-describes themselves as "neo-psychedelic for the digital age". The band formed in mid-2013 and have released a single titled "Bread", their first single. Read more on Last.fm
