Wino can refer to an American metal band, an American noise rock band, a Japanese alternative rock band, or a Louisiana awesome band. 1) Wino is the name of the new band of Scott 'Wino' Weinrich of Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan and The Hidden Hand-fame. They have released one album 'Punctuated Equilibrium' in 2009. Shortly after the supporting European tour in April Wino's bass player Jon Blank died of an overdose. There are multiple artists with this name: 1) Xasthur is an American one-man band founded in Alhambra, California by Scott "Malefic" Conner. Xasthur started in 1995 and released eight studio albums of ambient black metal by 2010, when Malefic announced the end of the project. However, he revived it in 2015 to focus on acoustic neofolk music, releasing a ninth album in 2016. Musically and lyrically, Xasthur's focus is on astral projection, darkness, despair, suicide, hate, and death. Read more on Last.fm

In 1979, Paul Metzger drilled a few innocent holes into a Yamaha acoustic guitar. A self taught musician with 5 years of playing behind him, Metzger was growing tired of the conventions of the instrument. This lobotomy was the first of many surgeries that would follow in years to come. Strings were added, subtracted, added again; the frets of the neck were disemboweled and retrofitted with a sarod like metal fingerboard plate; paint was splattered over it, a rejigged music box was affixed to the guitar's belly, a crash cymbal mounted to its bottom.
