From last.fm:

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) After moving from Texas to Minnesota at age 16, Ellis founded her own record label, Rubberneck Records. She joined a band while in high school and taught herself how to play guitar. She put out her first solo album, Soft Day in 1996. Ellis is an independent artist and is still based in Minnesota. She fills her songs with charm, humour, and wit, and is most enjoyed live, when you can experience her laughter and giggles--she gains an early, unusual, and strong rapport with her audience. “A two-lane highway is more than a road. It’s the only place I ever feel at home.” --Lyrics from ‘County Line’ Close your eyes and bring back a memory of your first road trip. The wind blowing through your hair, the adventure of discovering the unknown and unfamiliar, the freedom of solitude, the skylines of cities, the farmers tending to their crops, the sun rising and setting, the tires rumbling over the highway, the radio static, and the hours gently moving with every mile. The Ericksons

From Minneapolis

First show since since July 9, 2014 • 37th show on MN Live's calendar since April 28, 2009

» More artist info on MN Live

From last.fm:

Brooklyn-based folk duo The Ericksons claim a smorgasbord of disparate influences, from the usual suspects (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams et al.) to the less obvious, such as Radiohead and Yo La Tengo. But it is the joining of those seemingly contrasting inspirations that ultimately produces the pair’s sparkling take on the well-trod paths of American folk songwriting. With a keen appreciation of Americana storytelling and a gift for heart-wrenching melodicism and stunning harmonic twists, their sound is a perfect marriage of tradition and modernism." (Dan Bolles, Seven Days) Read more about The Ericksons on Last.fm.

Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson grew up together in Bozeman, MT, where they started performing under the uncreative moniker of Chris & Johnny in 1989. Early on their music with its intricate guitar work and introspective lyrics reflected obvious influences of singer/songwriters like John Denver and Simon and Garfunkel. They both went on to attend school at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where they continued writing and performing. Their college years saw the release of Shapeshifting and Different Waters, both quiet albums focused on their songwriting and harmonies. Read more about Storyhill on Last.fm.

One hails from St. Louis, has a band, and has been quietly and steadily building a fervent following across the country, stepping outside his role as one of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefers to front his own band, The Peter Mayer Group. Melding a unique and eclectic writing style, a distinctive voice, and virtuoso musicianship, Peter and his band create compelling and accessible music that is electrifying in live performance.
