Springing from the musically fertile soil of Minneapolis, Marah In The Mainsail blazes a trail through the wilderness of folk music with their aggressive take on the genre. The band has been carving a name for themselves in the midwest United States and beyond with their subtle nod to blues and punk music, played with traditional bluegrass instruments and steeped in folk influence. It all begun in 1999 ( year of the devil ? ) in Lyon when Sylvain, lunar multi-instrumentist, got to know Niko, beatnik guitarist with “televisual” play, around a cheap whisky bottle after school at St Just. They formed a first band, parodying Lou Reed without even knowing him. Its composition changed regularly and Sylvain occupied successively the post of drummer and bassist. Owing to the lack of implication of its other members the band split in 2004; Niko and Sylvain exorcised this period by sledgehammering their studio to pieces. Read more about Ravenhill on Last.fm.
