Haley Bonar (born 1983, Brandon, Manitoba) is an American alternative country singer-songwriter who hails from South Dakota. She has lived in Duluth and St. Paul, Minnesota. In July 2009, she moved to Portland, Oregon, where she spent a year writing songs for her newest album Golder. She plays mostly acoustic guitar and a rhodes or wurlitzer organ, either solo or with her Minneapolis-based band, including Jeremy Ylvisaker and Mike Lewis of Andrew Bird fame, as well as long time band mates Luke Anderson on drums and Jacob Hanson on guitar. They both write and perform, they are joined for live performance by Megan Zeankowski on bass and Danny Ayala on keyboards and backing vocals. The Times characterized The Lemon Twigs as "a modern-day band combining the melodic, harmony-rich soft rock of Wings and Supertramp, the underground cool of Big Star and the Ramones, and the theatricality of Broadway musicals. Sam Roberts Band has been around since 2000, when Sam Roberts began his solo career. Although the band has been together since then, it was not until the May 2011 release of Collider that Sam Roberts decided to add the moniker of "Sam Roberts Band" to the otherwise "solo" project. Sam Roberts mentions in interviews that it was always a "band" but that he wanted to add the words to give credit to his bandmates who have also worked hard in creating the success now known as the Sam Roberts Band.
